COMSOL
======

Description
-----------

COMSOL Multiphysics is a finite element analysis, solver and simulation package which can be used to explore a variety of physics and engineering problems.

User instructions
-----------------


COMSOL is available via the modules system.  To add it to your environment run:

.. code-block:: bash

    $ module load comsol/5.4

COMSOL can then be run by executing

.. code-block:: bash

    $ comsol

Installer provided by Hess group members.

License
-------

Proprietary.  Ortwin Hess/Stefan Maier have floating licenses.  The license server details and license file were provided by ICT.

Admin notes
-----------

COMSOL has a GUI install process.  I connected to the main server ssh with X forwarded and gave myself temporary ownership of the target install directory, and ran the install script. Care should be taken when entering the target directory as comsol will try to add some subdirectories to it. There's also an option to link to matlab that seems to work if you enter the matlab module root directory.
